20 months

Dear Oli boy-

I cannot grasp the fact that my little baby boy is almost 2 years old.  Where has the time gone!?

You are so so fun to be around right now.  You are smart, adventurous, naughty, funny, and sweet all in one little package.  You are a chatter box, talking non-stop all day long.  Its fun to hear you pronunciation improve-you no longer call stars “how I” and you don’t call drinks “nah” anymore.  (I have no idea where nah came from..)   You are starting to sound like a little adult, but thankfully still have jibberish in your vocabulary too.  You love your “guys” (action figures, any toy that’s little and a creature of any kind) and your cars and trucks.

You are starting to test your limits.  As frustrating as it can be, you are trying to learn about the world and I’m glad I get to be your test dummy.  I hope I can teach you what you need to know.  Even though you can be a stinker, 90% of the time you are the sweetest little thing.  You love giving kisses.  You are obsessed with me right now, saying “mama, mom, mommy???” all the day long.  You will even let me snuggle you lately for about 8 seconds, which is a lot for you.  Your play is getting so fun to watch because I can see you using your imagination more each day.

You love your cousins!!

You are in a stage where you get a little freaked out by strangers.  Nursery has been especially rough.  I have to stay with you every time or you freak out.  Thankfully there is a new leader that came last week and you took a liking to her. Haha!  We are working on it, and hopefully I can leave you in the next couple weeks.  The funny thing is, you got your first haircut this month and didn’t care at all!  You just let the lady cut your hair with no protesting.  I was proud.

You liked Santa right up until you had to sit on his lap, and then you were not very happy to be there.  It was hilarious and sad at the same time, but I think you’ll appreciate the picture some day.  You are having fun this Christmas season, loving all the lights (one of your favorite things) and loving when we single Jingle Bells so you can yell “HEY” We have also found out, through Celine Dion & Motab’s “O Come All Ye Faithful” that you love choir music.  You request it over and over again.

You are quite the little sponge, picking up everything we say.  You have learned to count to 10 and are constantly counting things.  You will sing with us when we sing songs-its so cute.  You love to read books, and especially love finding the mouse in Goodnight Moon and reading the “baby book.”

We officially threw out the binky, and you are adjusting pretty well.  Occasionally you ask for your “mimi” but I think you will forget about it soon.  You love to eat.  Your favorite foods are chicken, pizza, cereal, pancakes, and peas.  You don’t really like any fruit, and spit out lots of vegetables, but we are working on that.  Stinker.

You are such a big boy.  You make me laugh every day, and I'm so grateful for you!

Love,

Mama
